Port Isabel City Regulations on Animals
Any person found in violation of any of the provisions of these regulations shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be liable to a fine of not less than $1 nor more than $1,000 for each offense.
Required for pet ownership:

Vaccinations and proof of vaccinations for any animal over 3 months old

Rabies tag

Identification tag with owner name and address

Microchip insertion for animals over 4 months old
Rabies:
If you suspect you or someone else has been bitten by a rabid animal, you are required to notify a City Health Officer or Animal Control Officer or the State Department of Health or practitioner.
Spaying and Neutering:

Females in estrus (heat) shall be confined during this time indoors or in a secure location away from other animals.

No person may harbor an animal over 6 months old that has not been spayed or neutered without an unaltered permit for each animal.
Care and Keeping:

Owners shall keep their animals within their property and in a sanitary manner, picking up any excrement on public or private property.

No owner shall fail to provide animals with sufficient food, water, air, shelter from weather, veterinary care, and humane care and treatment.

No resident of the City of Port Isabel shall treat an animal inhumanely.
